This is the site of a former Renaissance Faire in Fredericksburg, VA. It is located in Sherwood Forest, a seemingly idyllic place to open a medieval festival. Unfortunately, it did not turn out as well as the owners had planned. The fair was open for just a few short years in the late 1990's, but was forced to close after it failed to turn a profit. A major contributing factor was the consistently inclement weather.
The ticket office is littered with a sea of unsold ticket rolls, all dated with the year 1997. The grounds contain a few dozen structures of various designs. This minature town has the feel of a small-scale amusment park, complete with a tiny clipper ship. Ivy has begun to cover many of the buildings, and a few of them have lost their structural integrity. The Renaissance Faire itself has moved on to a different location in Spotsylvania, but the future of this deterioriating site remains unknown.
